The Netherlands is a country that has something truly unique. Seemingly organized like a Swiss watch, yet at the same time totally laid-back. I\u2019ve been working with the Dutch for years, I\u2019ve visited, talked, and observed \u2014 and one thing I know for sure: the Dutch are in a league of their own when it comes to their approach to life. And seriously, there\u2019s a lot we can learn from them.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s start with the bicycle<\/strong>. It\u2019s not just a means of transport \u2014 it\u2019s a religion. Do you see someone in a suit, with a briefcase, rushing in the rain with one hand on the handlebars and the other holding an umbrella? Welcome to the Netherlands. A woman in high heels on a bike? Totally normal. Is it raining? No problem. After all, it\u2019s just rain. The Dutch don\u2019t dramatize. They will get there. Punctually. With a smile.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then there\u2019s their legendary \u2018toch?\u2019<\/strong> \u2014 a question-not-question that really means: am I right?<\/em> They usually say it with such confidence that you start wondering whether you might actually agree with them after all. This national level of assertiveness may feel a bit shocking at first, but over time\u2026 you admire it. And maybe even envy it a little. Because who among us wouldn\u2019t want to be able to speak directly, but without tension.<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dutch also have a talent for being light showmen \u2014 they can shine with a joke, say something with irony, and not take themselves too seriously. And that\u2019s wonderful.<\/strong>They\u2019re not ashamed of mistakes. They laugh at themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And if you think the Dutch are only about structure and practicality \u2014 get to know the word „gezellig”<\/strong>. It\u2019s not just an atmosphere. It\u2019s a state of mind. It\u2019s an evening with friends, warm light, good conversation, and peace. And if you add something lekker<\/strong>, which means tasty, nice, pleasant (seriously, this word can mean everything) \u2014 then you have the recipe for a perfect evening.
Here, simple things are celebrated. No stress, no pretending. And that\u2019s beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For us, Poles, it\u2019s sometimes a cultural shock. We tend to experience everything more deeply, more intensely, sometimes with unnecessary stress. And them? They take life lightly.<\/strong> And that\u2019s exactly why I love them.
Because in their \u2018everything will be fine,\u2019 there really is something. And maybe that\u2019s exactly why it\u2019s worth learning from the Dutch to:
a bit of ease, a bit of distance, a bit of... gezellig<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
